Saying THANK YOU

There are often times, here in this great nation we call home, that we get to busy and forget about the men and women who have made it possible for us to live FREE, to live our dreams. We lose sight of the fact that not only are these men and women fighting on the front lines, but they've also had to leave behind their family and friends back home.

Military families are often forgotten about - we forget that the wives, husbands, mothers, fathers, sons, daughters are NOT in uniform - therefore, we don't easily recognize who these brave people are. While their loved ones are on the battlefield, they are back home fighting a different fight. Their struggles are most likely never known, as they maintain the strength and courage of the men and women they sent off to war.

We want to say THANK YOU to these families in the BEST way we know how - snapping their picture! Do you know a military family or are you a member of the armed forces? We want to thank you for your service to this country and for providing a safe haven where we can live FREE.

Please contact us today for more details on how you can take advantage of a free photo shoot! Email us at emily@heysistersphotography.com or give us a ring at 574.386.3258. We'd be honored to take your picture!

Life is Beautiful

It's amazing how moments change you. How 'life' makes you so much more aware of what it is you're truly here for. While time passes so quickly, it's the moments that make you realize that life is beautiful - in many more ways than one.

My husband and I had our first baby in December. The date was December 12th and the time was 4:34pm. He was a big boy - 9 pounds, 7 ounces. I shake my head sometimes still, thinking about how big he was. What a beautiful baby he was and what a beautiful boy he is growing into. He's already a month old - I can't believe how the time has passed. It's rather phenomenal the rate the hands on the clock actually move. I remember being a kid and wanting so bad to be grown up. I now am so eager for the clock to stand still - so I can relish in the moments that make up this beautiful life.

I'm so very blessed to have such a beautiful, healthy baby boy. I thank God everyday that he believed in us so much, to bless us with such a gift. And while I'm anxious to see him grow, I'm enjoying each and every moment with him at this very moment in time. While I can't stop the clock, I certainly can cherish each day, each hour, each minute with him - and for that, I'm truly thankful.

Meet Eli Joseph Allison. :-)

The Windy City - At Night!

Chicago is one of those places that no matter the time of day or time of year, there is always something worthy of photographing. It's like many big cities - everywhere you look serves as a blank canvas for your lense.

It's easy to be inspired by a place like Chicago - there is so much beauty and history. It's a place where you can go and get lost in the magnificence of what's right in front of you. I suppose that's what's so amazing about photography itself - no matter how old you are, what culture you come from, or what economic status you find yourself in, the beauty is all around us - sometimes, it just takes a little time from our busy worlds to notice it.

Fun in the Snow!

It's not everyday that you get to play in the snow and get to take pictures while doing so! We had the opportunity to have some snow day fun with some gorgeous gals a few weeks ago at Oxbow Park in Elkhart, IN.

Sophia and Amalie are sisters and Kit is their older cousin - and what joy they brought to each other!

Their families were in town for the holidays and their grandma wanted some fun photos of the gals - we decided some playing in the snow was the way to go! What a great time we all had - and some great laughs along the way! These gals sure know how to have fun together!

What a Year - Thank you 2010!

What a year it's been - triumph, failure, success, growth - quite a beautiful collage I think.

I have been blessed beyond comprehension, and I am reminded of the amazing moments that made up 2010 - the most amazing being the birth of my son, Eli Joseph Allison. He's quite the stud :-). He gets his good looks from his daddy!

There have been so many other amazing moments along the way - including working with some of the most AMAZING clients, photographing their special moments. My sister Erin and I have been blessed beyond measure to work with such awesome people. We can't wait to see what 2011 brings!

We live in such a beautiful place - a place filled with freedom and hope - a place where I truly believe, anything can happen. It's amazing what a little hard work and determination can do.

In this New Year, filled with endless possibilities, I'd like to think I'll try new things that I've never tried before. Perhaps visit places that I've never visited before - but mostly, do more for others - give back to those that have given so much. I want to give time and attention to those things that really matter - because after all, we're not promised tomorrow.

So, this year, living every minute to the fullest is the goal - embracing every moment as if it were the last - enjoying life and simply - LOVING every second of it! Happy 2011!
